My 5 yr old and I spend a lot of time outdoors in our garden oasis. I love flowers, cottage garden style! #GTseedfairy 💕USDA Zone 8b; Sunset Zone 7

When your #soak treatment lasts ten days... Because you ran out of dirt, containers, energy... I hope they bounce back. But kinda a cool look at the root structure... #nasturtium #companionplant #seedling #root #whyamialwaysoutofdirt #whyamialwayoutofpots

@columbiariver they make good companion plants for vegetables. Specifically, by the squash, watermelons, and tomatoes. Yarrow and marigolds are good companion plants for a veggie garden, too. (But no marigolds near beans.)

@columbiariver I understand all too well. I'm my husband's caregiver. And then add the 4 year old on top of it, and I'm always exhausted. I just barely got my planting done last night, for seeds starting inside. I'll try to plant out everything I can this next week before vacation, and then direct sow a lot of the vegetable garden right when I get back. I need to recover our guest room... The plants are out of control. I worry about the humidity in there creating mold... 😳

Need to be shielded from afternoon heat. Hanging baskets in the front. Plant with alyssum. 😁

You can nick the seeds or soak them in warm water overnight to help them germinate more quickly.[1]

Plant each seed in a peat pot, which can be transplanted directly to the ground to avoid disturbing the roots. Use seed substrate, rather than potting soil.

Sow seeds 5mm – 1cm (¼”-½”) deep. If starting indoors, provide darkness during germination, followed by bright light. Space smaller varieties 15-30cm (6-12″) apart, and the big ones like Tall Single 60-90cm (24-36″) apart. Suggested you plant three seeds in a pot.
