First time I’m experiencing #cymbidium #orchid blooming in Summer

@gjones not quite year round but most months of the year.

I am very confused 🤷‍♀️ why my #boatorchid #cymbidium is budding at the moment. Normally it buds in winter and blooms in Spring. But I am jumping for joy.

So my cascading #cymbidium #orchid turning out to be #brown with red wine lip

@midget these orchids only survived by me because they are so easy to care for. I was scared to grow orchid before too but I gave it ago and it keeps going and got addicted to it 😊

You definitely have a green thumb they all look very healthy and have gorgeous flowers on them

Thank you @gjones I have 17 plants 9 different colours.

Most flower spikes emerged in March. Some are fully bloomed and i have afew still in buds and some have wilted. I think because they are all in different locations

@gjones you should try growing them. They are very easy to grow and cold tolerant. They just needed to be protected from frost.

@gjones in warmer months they like morning sun and give them as much direct sun in colder months. They don't needneed to be moved indoor during winter as long they are protected from frost. Under pergola or verandah. I only moved them inside when they are in blooms.

@gjones the blooms can last up to 8 weeks.

Thank you @suerichards they are just easy orchid to please. I leave them outside under covered pergola after they finished blooming. Give organic fertiliser afew times a year.
