They are. Before I knew the name my kids and I called them a valentine tree because of the heart shaped leaves.

I have this one @SylviaDavies which I think is a slightly different variety but still beautiful and I love it. This one can take 15-20 years to mature and other details can be found by tapping on the plant name 👍

It sure does... the leaves form at end of branches and start off small but grow to be big and heart shaped. I do think it's one of the nicest things in my garden when it flowers, it looks spectacular 👍 @SylviaDavies

I got mine from here https://www.ornamental-trees.co.uk/cercis-chinensis-avondale-tree-pp584 and I think Crocus also sell them. I planted mine early Spring and as you've read elsewhere moved one early winter last year and it's been fine but I'm in Surrey so not sure if location would make a difference or not... @SylviaDavies
