Bambusa shibataea 'Kumasaca'

Horrible windy, drizzly day here in Halesowen. But I just went out for five mins to pick the bamboo back up, and had a bit of a 'bugger it' moment and chopped two thirds off the height of my bamboos in a vain attempt to stop tel blowing over again. Looks a bit sorry for itself now lol. 😂 whoops. 🙈

I actually think maybe I ballsed up with this one when I first got it. Because out of three that I bought, I trimmed one down and now it's thick and bushy. The other two I didn't trim and they were really skinny and sparse. (This was one of the skinny ones). Maybe now it will concentrate new growth and thicken out a bit. - I know I need to pot it properly, but everything is still temporary at the moment so I don't want to do it til we start doing the garden properly. 🙈

I'd cut it right down to ground level, add fertiliser, water in well and top it off with mulch.

Fertilise and water in well with the conifers too. Otherwise you'll may get nitrogen drawdown from the mulch. #advice

I spread blood and bone on just about everything plus liquid seafood fertiliser. @Justin @richard.spicer.7906 What fertiliser would you recommend? Esp for "manky" conifers?

Have you posted a pic to get some advice on what to do with the conifers and why they're manky??

I think general fertiliser is probably OK. I've not done much reading about conifers specifically, but the RHS has a guidance note on conifers - link below.
