I'm a beginner gardener living in Halesowen, West Midlands. I'm currently 'making do' with a gravelled garden, but can't wait to make it my own.

#question #help My clematis has lost all its flowers... I made a bamboo/wire trellis and poked it into the pot, and then it's like the plant went into shock and shed all its petals, any ideas why? And how to remedy it? Thanks x

You might want to check its roots are well covered and not being exposed to the sun

Thanks @TeresaH the roots are well covered, there's bark chips on top. Maybe it's just done flowering then. Can I cut the stems back to tidy it up? x

You may also have damaged some of the roots when you poked the trellis in? Feed it weekly with a weak solution of seaweed or fish emulsion for a few weeks until new growth starts.
