My #oregano after pruning/trimming/harvesting (leaves are in the dehydrator as I type). I'm not sure I took enough off though.

An inherited #oregano. Should I prune back the stems? Any suggestions as to how much? I have a very sunny spot it can sit in, or a shady but bright porch. #herb #help #containergarden
I would prune them back to about 4-5 in.. all plants with pruning come back quickly, because they r not fighting to try to keep nutrients in the ones that r weak and will spread out better than just leaving them stranded.
Thank you both so much! I will do so ASAP. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't about to accidentally harm her :)
Also, pinching the tips will help stimulate growth as well. And yes, harvest.
As in, pinching the tips off? Or just pinching them slightly without detaching them? I've seen this mentioned before, but I was never clear on the concept.
Squeeze the tips hard enough to release oil but without breaking the tip actually off. This tip works for most herbs in general. I usually do it about once a week, after harvesting. I also talk cheeky to my herbs when I do this. It cracks them up.
Ooooh thank you. That was very specific and helpful :D
There's a lot of new growth on my #oregano. Pruning/harvesting seems to have done it some good :)
