Oh wow 😲 tiz enormus
Not seen this before. Any hint of caramel from it yet?
One of my favourite trees 😍
@gjones the heat really brought it to life! Was almost killed by the late frost and reduced to a twig so happy it recovered and flourished 😁
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom still a way off being like yours 😜 can’t wait til it smells of toffee apples 🤤
@jeatacake not yet but apparently in autumn the magic happens 😛 I’ll let you know then 😉
@ublaszko now it’s more than a twig I can see why 😍🍂🍁
I saw a mature one in Edinburgh Botanical Gardens and it was fascinating 😍😍
@ublaszko I’ve not seen one in the flesh 😜 look like quite a sight from photos though 😍
I think you’ll be surprised....when it starts to turn you’ll get a whiff of it and wonder what it is...😋 let me know when you do
Any day soon then as autumn's certainly arrived here this week 😒
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I can’t wait 😛 I’ll definitely let you know 😁

Cataloging - toffee apple tree
Wow, that’s a lot of new plants 😍😍
@pelly these ones whispered my name 😉😂🤣
Hey, that’s my excuse Kerry 😂😂😂
I call mine a toffee apple tree too it’s gorgeous..😋😋
I'm going to sneak over your fence so enjoy it while you can 😂😂😂 It's my favourite tree 😍😍😍 I think we have very similar tastes. Where did you buy it? I'm willing to go online for this one 😁😁
@pelly I thought I could borrow it for today, if that’s ok 😉🤣 I needed some way to justify my actions 😂
That's ok Kerry 😂😂
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I saw the description and then read it smells like toffee apple too so thought I’d give it a go 😁
@ublaszko you’re welcome any time 😛 oh I think we might too 😁 it’s such a pretty tree, can see why it’s your favourite 😛 I bought it from yougarden.com but think you can only get them in pairs on there 😜
😤😝😁

The leaves on mine have just started to open Kerry, I love it 😍😍
I didn't realise you had one of these. I've often thought about getting one. Do they truly smell like toffee apple?
@cyndi it is just ornamental sadly. But in autumn it’s worth it just for the smell 🤤 the colour changes are gorgeous too 🍁🍂
@sieveheadsarah they look great at this stage don’t they 😍 love the serrated edges and the colours are great!
@jeatacake had it about a year but it struggled so much last year. Has come back strong though! And they really do smell like burned sugar, in a good way 😂
@cyndi it smells like burned sugar to me, like a toffee apple but a bit smoky. It’s quite strong too, even on my tiny tree. But they only start to smell as the leaves turn in autumn 🍂
@cyndi it really is dangerous! 🤣
I’m so pleased I got one Kerry, I took some cuttings from the lower part and potted them up, they’re still alive and the leaves have started to open on them too, so fingers crossed they survive 🤔🤔
@sieveheadsarah you got a great sized one! Was looking at it earlier 😛 mine was just a 9cm pot plant when I got it a year ago. It really struggled and almost died in the heatwaves last summer but think yours is a lot stronger so can cope with the harsher weather. Roll on autumn so you can smell it 😉😂
It’s pretty tall Kerry, only just got it in the car 😂😂 and it was just £35. I am a little worried about it suffering during the summer, especially after reading different websites who all seem to have different ideas about what it doesn’t like, so we’ll see what happens, I’m keeping it in the pot for now as I’m not sure exactly where I want to plant it, I must remember to keep it watered well during the hot hot summer we’re going to have 🤔🤔👍🏼 I can’t wait to smell the leaves in autumn 🍂
I think you should get one Cyndi 👍🏼😀 @cyndi
