@gjones these little ones create a much nicer display for me. The bigger flowered chrysanthemums only seem to grow one stem 😕

@gjones I’ve cut them back and pinched out, made no difference. Maybe it’s how the variety grow

I only have a few stragglers now & none are threatening to flower just yet.

Your mums are spectacular! Mine keep loosing all the lower foliage 😕 Not sure why the bottom leaves keep turning yellow. Had the same thing happen last year.

@jeatacake they’re the only ones out of 4 different varieties/17 plants that have even shown signs of flowering. I have no idea when they’re meant to though 🙈

Mine usually flower well into autumn, but the hotter & drier summer may have changed that?

Seems like all sorts of autumn flowers have started flowering early. I pinched out mine so I'd get flowers later in the season.

@jeatacake that’s rubbish. Rather they were later flowering. Think I’ll do an @ublaszko and pinch the buds out 😛

Is doing a ublaszko now a thing? 😉😂😂 I think it might be too late to pinch out chrysanthemums now. Pinching out needs to be finished by the beginning of July. But if you're feeling adventurous and because you have quite a lot of these plants you could pinch out a couple and see what happens. Just water them well afterwards so they can bounce back quickly. What do you think? @jeatacake

@ublaszko you’ve heard of the Chelsea chop, this is the Urszula unflowering 😉 figured maybe cos the heat is pushing things forward that it might spur them on quicker as I’d be doing it late. I’ll try one if any others have buds 🤣

😁😁 Go for it! 👍 Nothing learnt if you don't try. You could Google how many weeks it takes for chrysanthemums from pinching out to flower. Just keep an eye on the new growth afterwards as blackflies are attracted to chrysanthemums and last year I lost all my chrysanthemum flowers to blackflies. 😬

I did enjoy them for a couple of weeks last year as I bought them in flower but had no idea about black flies until then so didn't even know to look for it. 😅 I think mine is Gigi coral ☺
