I like this one 👍 They're good for some colour especially when it's a bit bleak outside 🧡❤
@jeatacake too true! And the foliage had the same colours through autumn too. Looks like it glows 😍
I really like this one Kerry it has the perfect name
@alan1111 definitely very aptly named 😛 excited for it it be bigger so it really shows off its colours 🔥
Each year she'll be even more beautiful than the last 😍
It does! 👍

Lovely colour on the stems
@alan1111 aren’t they great 😍 love that they are a mix of reds & yellows ❤️💛
They are Kerry, very eye catching. It's been very wet here can't get to my garden to finish the autumn clean up. Did you receive my email?
@alan1111 it’s just horrid isn’t it. Stops you doing anything 😔 did you have any frosts yet? I’m just going through my emails now but I do have one from you, thank ya 😛 I’ll get the seeds sent this week for sure 👍🏻

I did manage to get out to the garden this morning for an hour and gess what, it rained again 😣 we have had a couple of frosty mornings. Absolutely no rush on the seeds Kerry 😀 I've put the begonias away for the winter. I was surprised at the size of one of them, the one I call big yellow it must weigh around four kilograms 😊
@heatherdirtyhands they’re incredible looking this time of year aren’t they 🔥
Yassss! Unfortunately I moved and left most of mine behind tried to bring a cutting but didnt work out sadly
@alan1111 I’m glad you managed to get a little time out there but the rain had to ruin it 😡 I couldn’t believe the size of those begonias! No wonder they flower like they do 😍
@heatherdirtyhands that’s such a shame, and sad the cutting didn’t work out 😔 hope you’ll be able to replace them in time 🙏🏻
I have to say it did me the world of good to get out and do something.
A was lucky to have picked them up. I got my money worth all three begonias for the tenner 😜

@gjones I can see why you do! I thought the only interest would be the bare stems but the foliage colour is stunning 💛 the other 2 have started sprouting now so be interesting to see those too 😁
@ukjohnny thanks John 😊 some plants are just named perfectly aren’t they 😛
This is a great cornus. Fab colour.
@jendren thank you 😁 love the two tone of the stems 💛❤️

Cataloging
@gjones thank you ☺️ wanted one for a while and they had a 3 pack for £5! So would have been rude to turn that down 😉😂
How polite of you to accept their kind offer 😂
@gjones I’m so surprised you don’t have online stores like we do here! I love the end of season because they sell off excess stock so cheap. I’ve got so many great plants that way 😁
@novicegardenlover I’d have felt awful ignoring such an offer 🤣
@gjones I hadn’t considered the freezing winters killing off new plants. There’s a lot of planning required in your environment. Oh that’s a significant price when you’re buying multiple plants at a time 😨 seed makes so much more sense - and it’s so much more rewarding too ☺️
@gjones so can you get seeds?? Or if we can get seeds tell me which ones and I’ll send you some👍🏻😊🤗🤗🎄😂
Also lovely 😊 - don’t prune this one the same way as the other two you have. This one is better pruned by just taking out the oldest stems from the base leaving a good structure above. Whereas the other two you have can (after they have settled in for about a year) be pruned fully down to 2/3 buds above soil level in late winter/early spring to encourage new growth for the next season
@richard.spicer.7906 thank you for the info, I’d have just chopped it back like the rest 🙈 is it true with cornus that they need pruning to ensure they stay colourful?
You get the best colours on younger stems, so they are typically grown and coppiced down to the ground every year to encourage new stems to form following season. I’ve left my ‘Kesselringii’ last year to grow without pruning just to ensure it settles in well, but will be cutting it back in feb/March down to the ground. Midwinter Fire is a cultivar from a slightly different species and does better if you just let it form naturally and prune out only the oldest stems each year.
@richard.spicer.7906 added to my notes 😛 thank you loads Rich. And Merry Christmas too 😁

Wow. The colours are so pretty. Like the name too. 🍂🍂
Beaaautiful colors!!
@hkyfvr @jmlincoln @gjones thanks ladies ☺️ the colours are so beautiful on this one but the magic is to come still, once the leaves drop 🔥
Very welcome. The red twigs will be so pretty. It will be a midwinter 🔥♥️
@hkyfvr if I got my pruning right 😜🤞🏻
