Did you sow these this year Kez? I'm not impressed with mine, some have been planted out a couple of months but all I've got is thin foliage. Hardly any growth 😳🧡🧡💛

@midnightgardener I did sow them last year 😊 they flowered last year too but not until much later, first week of August. So you still have a while yet before yours should bloom ☺️

@midnightgardener you’re very welcome 😊 there wasn’t much to these until the flowers came. Think they take a good while to fill out and even now they’re not very big looking as the foliage is quite strappy

@jeatacake sunshine in flower form 😁 I had one partially open in February but this is the first proper one. And a whole bunch more buds too 😍 surprised they survived the winter outdoors!

I've heard they can survive winter outside. I suppose it depends on just how mild or severe a winter it is? I might leave a few out next winter as an experiment, as I have loads now!

What surprised me last year was just how fast they grew from seed, with most flowering too 👍 Yeah, the old leaves can make them look a bit tatty, but once they put out lots of new leaves, they'll look fine 🙂

@midnightgardener I was so surprised to see it! Thought it was an old flower head but on closer inspection, it’s a bud 😂 can’t see it flowering but nice that it’s still alive after the poor weather and frosts, as you say. There’s little appeal outside at the moment, I agree! 😝

@jeatacake you have pretty ones that need protecting 😛 these are holding up ok outside. 2 nights of frost and it still opened today and is looking good. Thankfully not much has been affected so far but I doubt it’ll stay that way for long 😔 did the first do much damage to your garden yet?
Thankx Kerry 😊 The frost was thicker this morning. It's blackened the leaves on a few things which are hardy. I know that gazanias are a little hardy, but I had space in the greenhouse, so in they went! 😁

Yes, many things outdoors will now be transformed & starting their herbaceous hibernations!

No. Its too much to ask of anyone really. Just need to plan it out well. The real crunch will come next winter (2020/21) as I plan to be away for 3 months, so I'll have to accept that many things won't survive 😕
