@columbiariver the buds are a deep burgundy before they open, much like the speckles in the inside of the close-up. Would love if they opened that dark but they get a bit fluorescent 😂

Very welcome Kerry. Not one flower this year. Between the bunnies eating the buds in the Winter and the late frosts we had we had nothing. Maybe next year. May have to put a fence around it. 🤔

Same here. My laburnum seemed to suffer from that especially this year. Lots of prematurely dried up flowers 😔

@jeatacake it’s sad we don’t get to enjoy them for long. No rain here in forever so nothing is doing as well as it should 😣

We've had a few showers now over the last couple of weeks but need more. It was getting really worrying. Hopefully we'll both get some tomorrow 🙏

They are so lovely. I looked at my pink one more closely and it has those markings too. Never noticed before. Think I should take a closer look at all my plants 😁💕💕

Beautiful, bright color and the shape is funky fresh! Lookin good! Rhododendrons are the state flower here. There are some real massive bushes of them!!

Hasn't the weather been horrible so cold for the time of year. Never seen it this cold this time of year. You'll still get a beautiful display from it just a little later than usual 😁 I've a banana plant that's got so big I had to take it out of the house because any bigger I wouldn't be able to get it out without damaging it so it's in the shed with a south facing window but it's not liking it out there, looking very sad for itself. I'm sure it'll be OK 🤞🤞

@alan1111 it really has been awful 😞 not much can be done out there in weather like this either 😐 are you due a heatwave soon like we supposedly are? Will make your banana tree and us humans much happier 😛☀️

@alan1111 storm Dennis next 😫 I escaped with nothing worse than one blown over pot. So lucky! My grandad lost his entire back fence 😞 how did your garden hold up?

Yeah, rhodos get big really quickly. Mine is a dwarf rhododendron but I still prune it back by a third each year to keep it in check. The good thing is that you can cut rhodos all the way back and they will still come back. 👍

You were lucky. No damage here. I was worried about my little greenhouse but all was fine. I had so many disasters with them in the passed. This time I built a frame around it putting fixings to a wall and concrete floor plus using cable ties to strengthen the frame. All I have to do loosen four screws and the whole thing slides out. So glad I did 😀

@ublaszko that I didn’t know! Thank you 😛 my dwarf one looks terrible but thought because it’s virtually bald in the middle that it would die if I cut it back hard

My poor rhody, I just can't seem to find it's happy spot. 😕 I'll move it, it'll get a few new leaves, then just sit there, move it again, new leaves, sit there. I'm hoping it's newest spot will work. It'll get good mid morning to early afternoon sun then bright shadow the rest of the day.

My rhodo didn't do much this year but noticed new leaf stems a couple of weeks ago. The flowerbuds are there too but barely visible. Perhaps it's still to early for them to do anything yet. @lesliecole49
