@ublaszko I strategically hid most of the black spot that’s running rampant on this plant 😔 looks a little better today now I’ve removed all the bad leaves and had to resort to rose clear to get rid of damn greenfly and blackfly 😡

I don't think I'd bother with roses without RoseClear. 😁 I haven't had black spot or blackfly on any of my plants since I started using RoseClear a couple of years ago. I still get greenfly and whitefly and worst of all spider mites. Just had to strip most of the foliage of my gooseberry because it has gone all rusty yellow after spider mites got it. 2nd year in row 😕 Need to find a better solution for spider mites.

@ublaszko I’m starting to think the same way. They look so unsightly covered in diseased leaves 😝 oh no, not again 🙈 been reading about them and says they’re awful to control. Recommend neem oil but nothing seems very efficient at getting rid of them 😕

ublaszko

I noticed they don't seem to go away so easily. Most plants seem to cope ok but gooseberry foliage turns rusty colour and then dies back prematurely. I end up with bare twigs. Might need to move it somewhere less central so it doesn't spoil my view.

@ublaszko I think that may have been what happened to my blackberry last year 😞 gotta get the stinking neem oil out again 😂 good idea, least then it’s not in your eye-line constantly

You have the same rose as me! 😀 It's my favourite rose inherited from previous tenants. It's not hybrid tea rose as the HT roses have only one flower at the top of the stem. 😊 I just watched a programme on YouTube about roses. This is a floribunda and I think it's a miniature no? I love the red edge to the leaves and how vibrant the new foliage is. Everything is wonderful about this rose. I could go on and on about its amazing features 😂😂😂

@ublaszko it’s a beauty isn’t it! Weird thing is it was a pack of 6 hybrid tea roses I bought and it has only ever had a single rose at the end of the stems. I don’t know why it’s changed all of a sudden 😂

ublaszko

Very strange 😅 It doesn't look like a hybrid tea rose anymore 😉 How tall is it? Maybe a pixie came by one night and swapped you roses 😂😂

6w
comment
kez001uk

@ublaszko it’s very strange. I wish that pixie would come and rid them of black spot instead 😂 it’s quite small really. I wouldn’t think it’s more than 1’ high. By far the smallest rose

Definitely sounds like my miniature rose. 👍 If you spray your roses with fungicide in late winter it helps prevent black spot in the first place. For now, pick the affected leaves off the plant so it doesn't spread further and give it a good spray with RoseClear or another fungicide. Pollinators don't really go for roses so it won't harm them. Just spray in the evening or on a cloudy day so the foliage doesn't scorch 😊

kez001uk

@ublaszko thank you for the tips, I need them! Thankfully it’s only on a couple of my roses but trying to stop it spreading. I’ll give roseclear a go 👍🏼

The good thing about HT roses is they are more resistant to black spot but I'm still tempted to buy one of the old fashioned roses as they have such a beautiful fragrance 😍😍
