I've seen all your lovely varieties of zinnias and I'm starting to like them. Any tips how to get them to flower through July and August? I grew some last year but they only started flowering in late August and then got killed off by early frost 😕

@ublaszko they are so addictive! The only thing I can advise is not sowing direct. I did mine in the greenhouse which saved them getting eaten - seems to have happened to a lot of people this year - and brought them on a little quicker too. Even the ones I sowed in late June are almost ready to flower 😊

I sowed mine indoors in April but I think it was too early because they like a lot of heat. I think I might sow them in May instead and then they might be more vigorous and flower earlier if they get heat continuously.

@ublaszko I think you’re right as my later sowings have done better. Have been looking at varieties for next year on Chiltern seeds website and want them all 😂 they do individual colours too 😉

@columbiariver it gets so hard to keep up in summer, too much going on 😜 I hadn’t grown zinnias til this year but wish I’d discovered them sooner! They bring so much colour and variety, plus they seem to last ages!! Hope you’re having a great weekend 😁

Lack of slugs apart from one giant one! 😀 Could be worth moving them to a sheltered spot if it does get windy. Pretty calm here so far
