We are making rhubarb gin
I've drank my first lot so making a second batch today. 😅
Sounds delicious
Did you wait the 6 weeks @DeborahBanks ? It's our first time making it. We bought a bigger tub to make more today. 😊
I did 4 weeks. If you have any grenadine syrup add a small amount when you bottle it as the pink colour fades.

At the back of the allotment where it doesn't really get very sunny, two planted... I'm debating if I should get the last one as it might be too close to where my polytunnel will be. Moved today (20/02/21)

@Kimmy01 What the white poles for? Should I be doing that?
No I only done that when I first planted them so I knew where they where @Lottie__O I just leave them now lol at least I know where they are over winter 🤣
@kimmy01 ahh good idea!! Wasn't sure if it was to help them grow🤦♀️ mine are hidden in the corner of the garden but they love it

The best my rhubarb has ever looked and the first year I'm harvesting from it 😊😊😊😍😍😋
Lovely! I think my rhubarb is my favourite thing in the garden. The BBC food website has an amazing recipe for rhubarb custard cake, really easy and beautiful.
Oh thank you I'll go have a look at that @DeborahBanks 😋

#forcedrhubarb
I’ve tried forcing mine but in hindsight think I should’ve waited as it’s a plant split only within the last 6 months. However waste not want not... how do you know when to pick?
What does forced mean
You have to wait a year before harvesting from rhubarb after you slit it or move it @Emma915Jones and never force the same plant the next year I just waited till they where thick and I only had a small pot on so they couldn't grow any bigger 💚💚
When you try and Forse the plant to grow earlier then normal by covering it after its stoped growing and by early spring you'll be harvesting and they are supposed to taste sweeter @Sussanah
Righty o
Looks fresh and tasty 😍 @kimmy01

Not long till crumble time! 😀
Yay. Ice cream with mine please.
OK @charlotte 😁
It done this in the last few days @linfoster and I moved it 7 weeks ago I took as much roots as I could dig and it hasn't been affected 😀😀😀 can't wait to see how big it gets
I know @linfoster they only got planted last year so there wasn't much root, I still dug down really far anyway. There in there permanent place now

Do you think it will survive? They where only planted the other day maybe they where in the pots to long 🙄
Oh no! Hope they make it... I just lost mine to the dog, but just hatched some new seedlings so fingers crossed for those
Give them a chance to settle. They may just be having a bit of a tantrum about being moved from their pots. Keep them watered and hopefully they'll perk up.
I liked but it's a 😞 hope they recover
I have 2 more pots at home that are looking better. I'm going to get them planted tomorrow & hopefully they will be OK @slj @Soph1e @Mikekally
It might have been the heat in them black pots. 🤔
Fingers crossed for them
Fingers crossed, if they all take, you'll have a lot of rhubarb!
I have the same problem. Not seen any progress in the ground but we'll see early days maybe plant is adjusting to soil conditions
I pulled some of mine and what was left was looking poor so I've chucked aload of compost over the top recovering it so it has to force it's way again. (Might be worth a try) It's improved mine. @kimmy01 @garymenzies
