Help me identify this plant - so, about 8 years ago my parents got me some seeds from their holiday in Mallorca, Spain and this is the only thing that grew.. it was branded as 'Mallorca Palms' and all Mallorca-themed plants.. I repotted it yesterday, is there any special treatment I can give it? The stem is a bit brown.. though, we don't really pay much attention to it (we keep it inside)
I'll have a google! There's a very faint name on a label I put with it all those years ago, but I think it says Mallorca.. 🤔 I think it was to make tourists.. buy them.. @katethegardener still, not bad for a small packet of seeds from Spain!
It looks like the Palm I have had in my garden for 7 years. I love them. The trunk is brown and hairy and thickening up nicely, part of its attraction for me. I'll post a pic later. I wrap it in the real hard spells but it seems happy in our rather windswept garden in Derbyshire. @kyleleonard
That's cool that you put it outside - I think my mum likes having it inside as it looks exotic and matches a lot of her paintings (random villas in Cyprus, Spain..) I read online about putting used tea leaves at the base, would you recommend? @tiger123
@Kyle Leonard I live in sthrn Texas and we have a variety of palms. I have a couple I do know they like magnesium which is in Epsom Salt and recommended for many plants but especially for palms!! I plant mine in cactus/Palm soil which u can find at Lowes and of course, since they are tropical they love the sun. I'm not to sure about indoor but you do see them indoors in a lot of malls and homes so if you'd rather keep it indoors just research it's species and you should be good👍🏻👍🏻
I agree with @steadysgirl7 I've got three in the garden, one in big pot, the one I've got in a sheltered spot is twice the size of the other two, which get battered in high winds. Very cool to grow that from seed !

@kyleleonard could it be a Date or Fan palm?

It looks like a Fan Palm, maybe it was known as Mallorca Fan Palm on the packet. Thanks @katethegardener 🙂
So welcome @kyleleonard and if it is in fact a Fan Palm they are a super hardy mainly outdoor palm here in NZ 😀
