I get no scent from it! But I don't really smell many scents in my garden. Maybe it's my nose? 👃🏼 @KariSamuel

@kyleleonard mine has not flowered this year any idea why?

8w
comment
kyleleonard

@KatieCat - no, sorry. I don't give it any special treatment. I prune it throughout the year as it gets higher than the support aid - which hasn't stopped it flowering

Hi Kyle, propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in summer (RHS gardeners encyclopedia of plants &flowers) no mention of seeds. Hope this helps.

#TBT this is from 2012. My old bed frame from my teens, now covered in my Jasmine. Probably the best bit of upcycling I've done 🌞 check my other photos for this plant to see the progress over the past 4 years

@kyleleonard Mature plants with the right conditions can produce seed pods that resemble miniature green beans.

The show piece of the garden - 5 years ago this was an empty bed frame, now it's even good enough for birds to make nests to have their young! Proud of this part of the garden

I had a robin nest in mine too. Couldn't use the backdoor for weeks to avoid disturbing them. I reckon this is Trachelospermum jasminoides though (star jasmine) rather than the true jasmine (Jasminum officinale). It has simple evergreen leaves, not the compound (ferny looking) deciduous leaves of Jasminum.

kyleleonard

@petecross - thanks! I'll investigate later. I actually bought this which came with a tag (don't have anymore as it was 2012) and it's where I got the variety name from

8w
comment
kyleleonard

@petecross - would you recommend me shaping it now? It's growing a bit out of control and doesn't look very good

8w
comment
petecross

Yes, I think you'd get away with it any time while it's actively growing. I tend to prune any unruly bits on mine in the summer.

8w
comment
kyleleonard

It gets shoots that go straight up into the air. I'll post an updated photo tomorrow once I've seen what it's like. Cheers @petecross!
