Not a very good picture. I bought this last summer. Any advice welcome. Have not grown clematis before. Made lots of growth last summer but no flowers. Probably too late. I got it in June

I think this is a spring -flowering clematis so it may flower in May this year. My neighbours have one and it doesn't have any new growth yet.

Yes, definitely a spring flowering clematis so you should get flowers soon. Don’t prune it too hard after flowering, just trim and tidy. As it’s a Montana it might be quite rampant so tie new shoots in before they get too tangled. Good luck @librarian 👍
