Been gardening for a good number of years now. Love the cottage garden look and growing lots of herbs. Huge fan of companion gardening.

So my #grapevine was somewhat neglected and forgotten. My garden (like my life) is organised disorder so look what I found when having a tidy up! Purchased 2 years ago for £4.50 in the rescue corner and it’s still alive!

@kathy @flof1952 @mftb I’ve just looked at my past posts on grapevines and seen that you all have them too. Any thoughts on how best to look after this and get it growing properly (and producing fruit!). I’ve had this 3 years now from a tiny little twig and it’s still alive!

And let's see what this does this year! Might have picked the wrong place for it though! The gooseberry and peony seem to have gone totally bonkers this year! They weren't anywhere near this big when I planted the grapevine!

My newest experiment! After a peach tree, the next thing I always wanted was a grapevine. Beloved's never been keen because grapes aren't supposed to do so well in this country but i found this in the bargain bucket corner of the garden centre for £2.50 .... Anyone here got any experience with grapes?

I planted a green grapevine last year against my back wall which gets the sun longest. This year it went wild grow all over the place so i did as i was told and cut back the long new shoots. I have 3 bunches of grapes on there which are growing nicely. Hope yours do too. It weathered over the winter outside with no protection

Thanks mftb! I need to clear some space to plant the vine but do you think I can just plant it straight in the garden later on? It came in a 3" pot so quite small at the moment.
