Yes I've seen this before! Hard to explain but we put it down to a lack of light to that particular side of the tree. Cut it out. When coniferous trees go brown they dont green up again @cyndi

have any chemicals been used near tree? specific injury of some type to that side of tree
No chemicals at all.

very similar to salt injury. if it was light tree would never have grown so full & would lean toward light. @broughgardens
