Help me identify this plant! This guy was sold to me as echeveria “blue cante” but I suspect it is subsessilis.

You know, there are that many plants marked incorrect or purposefully named incorrect for a sale that I do not take a plant with me without a quick lookup or verification.

@yollymac I bought it on the Facebook marketplace from TJ Pence. It looked similar enough in the photo to what to what I thought may have been an immature Cante, but I did have doubts. The description said that this guy will get a foot wide, so I was like, hm, that SOUNDS right for a Cante.. It was only $6 so I I figured if it was a Cante, cool that’s a great price, if not, it is still decently priced and pretty anyways lol.

@Yollymac I do like doing trades too, but I’m a stay at home mom who is always super busy and doesn’t drive so sometimes it can be a bit of a hassle to get out and mail something off. I mostly just buy stuff online if it catches my eye with little regard for names. Not many places sell succulents where I am so mostly I have to stick to online shopping.

I love rurally so most my shopping is online as well. Market place have mostly been a disappointment for me with plants not being what people say they are. So that’s why I either research the plant before I buy it or.. buy from reputable growers/sellers so I know what I order is what I get. I am picky though. 😂

@Yollymac this YouTuber I follow @ashleyglassman recently bought some Buddha’s temples with tons of pups. I was totally eyeballing the post she bought it from on the marketplace. They turned out to be some other hybrid and if I recall correctly the seller doubled down and claimed they were true Buddha’s temples. I, too do not have great experiences with the marketplace. I never recommend anyone buy anything from there now. Not all are bad, but too many are.
