@jeatacake, you do need the right conditions to grow them Jeff. We have the ideal conditions here in central Perthshire. You need a well drained soil in a shaded area with moist conditions, and not too hot.

@peter-w Thank you Peter. Here in St Helens we have clay soil. Tried growing from seed 3 times & none germinated. Also bought a young plant, but that died after a few months 😑

@jeatacake try adding some grit, compost and leaf mould to lighten the soil and make sure the plant is in dappled shade. Soil should be neutral to slightly acid.

Wowsers! Looks really good 👍🏼Love these and trying to grow one myself. All good so far although I noticed somethings having a nibble on it. I will probably cut off any buds I see this year to let it establish.
