@lovestogarden @Ping918 not sure, but my guess it is not a butterfly, but will turn into a moth, or sawfly. they are usually pests and eat flowers and plants. I would look for others and hand pick it off, and destroy it, or put it on a plant you don't mind it eating 😉

A peppered moth caterpillar changes it's colors to camoflage itself
