But they went dormant summer #inside because of the A.c. thought it was winter and came back in the winter cause of the heat. LOL!
@PunkyKy I love all the photos you post. I wonder why your growing medium looks so different than the traditional potting mix I use. It it because of the type of plants you grow?
Yes.The carnivorous plants like very wet #bog soil...especially sundews . They like their media to be very moist. All it is is peat moss and perlite mix....sometimes I throw some sphagnum moss in the medium too. Carnivorous Plants can't grow in tradition mineral based soil. They will die. They get their nutrients from the bugs they eat through their leave, not their roots like most plants. You can't even use water that has any minerals in it. @petitelake #carnivorous-tip
Why does your soil look real wet??? Does that type of soil attract the insects?? I know nothing about carnivousplants🤭☹️😩🤫🤫. It’s very interesting but tell us about that dirt?? If I c one I might have to try one??
Drosera live in very wet boggy conditions. They only will grow and thrive in low nutrient , very moist soil. They love the water and humidity. The #soil I use is #peat moss. It's low in minerals and has a high ph..which #carnivorousplants love. Putting carnivorous plants in soil with minerals and fertilizers will actually kill them. They do not absorb their nutrients from the the soil the way other plants do. They get theirs from the bugs they eat. #carnivorous-tip @terrimclaughlin

I confused my poor Sundews! I wasnt sure of their variety at first when I got them...then figured it out by comparison and the #dormancy
