Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum'. Photographed today, 21 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. Of all my Acers, this is my favourite because of the natural layered effect - it looks almost "cloud pruned"! Golden lime-green foliage in Spring/Summer, and red foliage in Autumn. It has crimson flowers, carried in upright clusters. It took several plantings, before finding the right place for this Acer, to prevent windburn. #acer #shirasawanum #aureum #golden #limegreen #reediecottagegarden
