Hesperis matronalis (Sweet Rocket). Photographed yesterday, 21 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. Highly scented, spikes of lilac/purple flowers above rosettes of dark green leaves. This is a biennial or short-lived perennial that readily self-seeds. Bees love these plants, and the fragrant flowers perfume the air in spring and early summer evenings.
