This was a rescue from the clearance bin. I'm a little concerned that it's all flowers and no leaves! Should I do something to keep it from exhausting itself? I'm tired just looking at it 😉 @Acetaker @gjones @columbiariver @grandmagizzy @maldavis how do I keep this begonia alive??
Looks lovely . I've only one begonia in a pot on the wall by back door - looking amazing at the moment but I usually avoid them as they tend to die on me 😢 so I'm not much help I'm afraid
It Looks Beautiful! Take a side shot plz. I take my begoinias and seperate the buds from each other Abit do they get sit circulation for them and leaves to grow and when separating u get to wiggle out the bad buds etc. But! u r doing a Great Job!
@rennezoe wish I could help but have never grown one. Acetaker sounds like excellent advise.
@Acetaker this is the side view. Blooms like crazy but foliage doesn't grow much, if any. I've read that they're considered "throw away" plants but I'd like to keep it healthy if possible
Yes,they say that but I'm like u ..if I'm growing it I'd like to know it's growing right😉😀. Ok..have I feed it,miracle grow or something there of? Is the soil kept moist...not soaking wet? Now,take each section and gently tug the leaves and stem apart. The leaves need to be slowly placed outside of stem, alittle each day as it grows or as they get large enough. It will slowly bush out for u. Take your fingers and slowly place in between the stems a shelf lightly. This will help in
Spreading stem so incoming leaves can spread into place. I allow mine to go as they want once they start filling out and the leaves help me seperate and move the plant. I posted a pic of each of mine(Yellow and Red) The yellow needs afternoon shade where the red likes afternoon sun. That's another thing that u need to pay attention to.. inside or out. I try to get ALL my houseplants outside for a couple months to boost growth. REMEMBER: MOIST NOT SOGGY SOIL,FEEDING ON REGULAR BASIS. I DO IT:
EVERY 14 DAYS AND TURNING YOUR PLANT, IN CONTAINERS, HELPS WITH EVEN GROWTH. I hope I helped u some with this. Plz don't hesitate to ask again.....😍😍
@Acetaker thank you! I actually just bought this from an ugly plant sale yesterday. I tied the stems up and staked it cuz I was worried the top would break with the weight of flowers. Didn't think about the leaves needing room, makes sense! I do fertilize but haven't yet. I did repot it in the next size pot. I just assumed shade so good to know that some like the sun. It's already getting down to 50° at night so will probably have to come inside soon but hopefully I can keep it going.
Thanks for the advice @Acetaker😊
YW❣ Anytime 😍
