Elsewhere... my Colquhounia in the front garden is finally flowering after three years since I bought it. Colquhounia is a large shrub which has these lovely silvery velvet leaves. Was inspired by the specimen at Wisley outside the old house and found one locally. Already moved it once as it was in a too exposed site but now in the front garden it’s in a nice sheltered corner #colquhounia #colquhounia-coccinea #himalayanmint

Thanks Sue - the foliage is amazingly soft when it emerges in spring, in its native country it would be evergreen but here it loses its leaves in winter. If it’s a severe winter you may lose the branches too but it would normally come back again from the base. The one at Wisley was about 10ft tall 👍🏼 @suerichards

They are great, but needs a sheltered spot to protect it from excess wind and winter weather. I thought I’d have trouble too finding it but then spotted it at one of my local garden centres a couple of years ago. I haven’t tried propagating mine yet, but seems that softwood cuttings are best @lewish

I had planted this in my back garden, but it didn't seem quite happy and got battered a bit by winds when it swept over. I've moved it to the front garden in this sheltered corner which catches the sun, so hoping it will respond well - Colquhounia coccinea #himalayanmint #colquhounia #colquhounia-coccinea

You'd almost think this were a black and white photo. The cold has taken it's toll on this one, but it will be back in the spring with fresh, velvet leaves 😊 #winter #colquhounia #wintergarden #himalayanmint #colquhounia-coccinea

Otherwise known as Himalayan Mint 🤓 - saw this at Wisley in September and fell instantly in love with it. So I bought a two foot high specimen and planted it in my new hot colours border. It's leaves kind off remind me of a Buddleja, but they are aromatic 👃🏼 #colquhounia #himalayanmint #colquhounia-coccinea
