These Black Iris have taken a while to wake up, but I'm pleased to see them - it's my first year growing them, currently planted in my partial shade border. 🤓

Wow That's organised, having a partial shade border ! If we have one of those, t'was purely accidental I can assure you!

Hehe, it's just a border I made near one of my trees. It has sun in the morning and around midday, then in afternoon it goes in shade as the hedge/tree blocks the sun. @IlsonRootsProject

Not much at the moment, but hoping this Iris gives a great display of dark flowers next year. Almost black 👍🏼

Do you cut them back @richard.spicer.7906 or just let them die back naturally?

richard.spicer.7906

Hi James, I leave these to die back naturally. They look a little untidy at the moment because I split them as I planted them and they all went a bit lop sided! Hopefully the new growth in spring will look much neater 👍🏼😁 @jamesbirnie

Thanks @richard.spicer.7906 I divided mine a few weeks ago, but wasn't sure whether to now just let them die back or cut them. Thanks again 👍
