Morning - spending this morning catching up with my own stuff, feels like weeks since I had time to take it all in. These Turkish Iris seedlings are coming on a treat now - almost ready to pot on I think in the spring #seedling #iris #iris-orientalis #turkishiris

Looking very good

Canβt wait to see all your Irises again! Such a fabulous display!

I remember all your fabulous Irises from last year Rich ππ

Not long now π @rachelbrooks @pelly

Also tried sowing some Iris species about 8 weeks ago, from seed collected over a year ago from my parents house - Iris orientalis. I had to soak these for about 5 days before sowing them. These have started to germinate too πππΌπ± #iris #iris-orientalis #seedling #turkishiris

Brilliant. So satisfying when seedlings come though ππΌππΌ

Yes it is@valjones-hughes

Indeed! They are looking great at the moment, so many have germinated π @terrimclaughlin @valjones-hughes
These Iris seedlings are really taking off now. Still not sure if they are Turkish Iris, I collected seed from my Mumβs garden and she inherited it so we donβt know for sure. But itβs the nearest match. Def not a bulbous Iris
Not as many left now when I first showed them, lost a few in the great disaster of 2018 when the grow house blew over π it was that storm that they didnβt give a name to, just before beast from the east #thestormwithnoname
Are you going to manage all these plants?π€
You have something in flower in the background π
Hopefully Gerry π they are coping at the moment ππΌ although this will go in the ground when it gets bigger. @gerryparsnips
Well spotted! Crocus speciosus. Itβs not normally this late, but my bulb order arrived very late last year and I didnβt get them till November π€ should have had them in August π. Iβve still not received my last order which had spring crocus, new irises and a few other bits. Supposed to have been before Xmas so will ring them on Monday. If it gets too late they usually just refund them, the problem with making one order with plants of slight diff timings as they send in one go @ublaszko
I ended up planting some tulip bulbs just yesterday because a friend brought them round after Christmas and I didn't get round to them until now. π I'm a bit gutted about my spring bulbs this year as Wilko and local market didn't bother with them last autumn and then the Xmas market stall that used to sell spring bulbs didn't return either so I only got bulbs from the previous year. π
Oh thatβs a shame. Hopefully they will be back again next year. Are you still planning on moving? The tulips should be fine ππΌ @ublaszko
Yes, we looked at houses in summer but didn't find anything in time before the beginning of the academic year. Will have a look again over Easter break. No rush. I think I might buy bulbs online next autumn as I don't have many other options locally and taking buses to garden centre would cost me the same as online delivery.
Virtually all mine come from online now. Very rarely do I buy them in person, and when I do itβs usually spontaneous! π @ublaszko
Online plants are good value with a medium to large size garden but they end up expensive when you just want a handful of bulbs. I think I need to make a seasonal shopping list and then buy them all at the same time. The thing is I prefer to buy them individually to spread the joy ππ
