Sprekelia formosissima syn. Amaryllis formosissima

10/06/19 - this has sprung up so quickly! I’d heard it was fast but having not grown it before I didn’t realise quite how fast! Seems to be before the foliage too 🤔 is that normal? I probably should have read up a little more on this plant when I planted it 😂🙄 #sprekelia #sprekelia-formossissima #jacobeanlily

It’s a huge flower Sarah considering the height of it, a little top heavy but I’m not sure if it’s normal or if I’ve got a duff one. The leaves are slowly now coming up, but reminds me of what Hippeastrum bulbs do @sieveheadsarah

20/05/2019 - cataloguing, another great find at Wisley in February, and just potted up end of April. Apparently these flower very quickly once it pokes through the soil, so will be keeping a close eye on this so I don’t miss it #sprekelia #sprekelia-formossissima #jacobeanlily #bulb
