I live in the city and work in the country, so I commute backwards. I plant on windowsills. Very much a beginner, but this app is teaching me so much!

The mantlepiece provides a good space for this newly potted spider plant. #indoorplants #indoor #urban #urbangardening #urbangarden #windowsill #indoorplants #indoor #pot #spiderplant-bonnie #spiderplant #repotting

Much root-prising and compost-adding later, I have split the single pot into four of varying size. Most still have two spider plant babies in them. What was I thinking?? And how bad are the rest of the spider plant pots left at my parents'? #repotting #whenonebecomesfour #separation #urbangardening #urbangarden #windowsill #indoorplants #indoor #urban #spiderplant-bonnie #spiderplant #rootbound #potbound

I brought my parents a Mexican hat plant when I went over for Father's Day, and asked for a spider plant baby in return. They practically begged me to take away a potted spider plant, as they are taking over that window sill. So this was my companion on the bus home. #bus #intransit #spiderplant-bonnie #spiderplant #potbound #rootbound #urban #urbangardening #urbangarden

@awomanonabike Very much so! I split it into four different pots, too. Poor thing.

They are great plants though, and very forgiving!

@awomanonabike Most, if not all, of the ones at my parents' (where I rescued this from) are babies from #Webster, who in turn was a child of my childhood spider plant, Webby. They've lasted very well indeed, especially considering that my parents are not very green-fingered or -thumbed! But now I worry that their whole windowsill of spider plants may be this bad... Do I have enough pots and compost? XD

That’s fantastic. I had one as a child too though sadly I’m not sure where it ended up but I have several now. When I have too many I put them in the garden. They don’t survive the winter but look nice for a few months. Do they have a garden? 😬

@awomanonabike Spider plants make great childhood plants - a friend of mine was a teacher for 3 decades, and kept one in the classroom, giving any plant babies to the children to take home. My parents do have a garden, but we're in Scotland, so outdoor spider plants may not even survive summer... I may just give them as gifts!

I remember actually taking mine into school - I was very little. My teacher told us that they didn’t flower and I told her that they did. I took it in when it was in flower...
