Thanks Chris, the flower is all but 6 inches tall but fortunately that colour is its true reflection. Stands out against the bark mulch.. @midnightgardener
Wonderful! But sadly not Eye Catcher. The latter has more white colouring, and has yellow falls, sometimes with 5-6 'arms' (not sure what the technical term is 😆) - they may have been mislabelled, and I would say this is likely to be 'Sea Breeze'
Thanks for update @richard.spicer.7906. I did wonder somewhat when they appeared. Planted last year and my order from Farmer Gracy was for Eye Catcher but clearly Sea Breeze does seem more likely. Distribution error possibly. Be interesting to see what my others turn out to be as waiting on Iris Katharine Hodgson Katherines Gold, Reticulata and Iris George to appear..
It happens too often unfortunately, but sometimes you get a nice alternative. I’m aware that there is a shortage of 'Eye Catcher' at the moment - the breeder, a Canadian chap called #alanmcmurtrie , posts on the Scottish Rock Garden Club forums and on his own website (lots of reference pics) and said they are not selling Eye Catcher for a year or so to let dutch stocks build up. But hopefully will be back on market soon 👍🏼
Here’s the link to his website - he’s breeding so many wonderful colours now, but it takes a long time to bulk up the bulbs and bring to market http://www.reticulatas.com
