This one also lived through two late-april frosts! Hooray so glad I didn't kill it. 26 Apr 2024 #hardy-banana #musa-basjoo

#lessonlearned : I put out the #musa-basjoo #hardy-banana before the first frost date because it's hardy, right? And then SURPRISE we had a week of weather in the 20's. 👎 It appears not to be all dead, so we're holding on to hope. 19 Apr 2024

Been out of town for a week and we've gotten abnormally low amounts of rain during May; the #bananatree is hurting. I watered it right after taking this so maybe it'll be perked up by tomorrow. 8 June 2023 #musa-basjoo #banana #japanesebanana

I moved my nursery from behind the gazebo to against the fence because we got the house (and gazebo) power washed. House hasn't been this clean in 4 years! 🤣😅😆😂🙃

The lower leaves have some brown spots on them, but these two latest biggest ones seem mostly OK. 13 May 2023 #musa-basjoo #banana #japanesebanana #greenwoodnursery

#musa-basjoo #banana sprouting more leaves. Some of the leaves seemed to be getting some kind of brown spots so I moved it. The new leaf seems fine. 13 May 2023 #greenwoodnursery #japanesebanana

Up-potted the #musa-basjoo #hardy #banana from a 4-inch pot to a 1 gallon. Gonna get him acclimated to the new pot for a couple days before putting him out in direct sun. 22 Apr 2023

Gave the #hardy-banana a good soak a couple hours ago and it's already perked up quite a bit. Leaves were floppy when I opened the box, but they're a lot firmer now. 13 Apr 2023 #musa-basjoo #greenwoodnursery #growbabygrow

Does it produces edible bananas? Or is it just ornamental?

@ambitiouswolf just ornamental. Growing it for the foliage.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I've always wanted a #hardy-banana! It's tiny -- a 4-inch pot -- but it's about 10 inches tall and with a bunch of water and sunlight it'll grow big. 13 Apr 2023 #wishlistnomore #minenow #musa-basjoo #plantmail #greenwoodnursery

How much cold can this guy tolerate?

They're viable in zones 5-10 and if well mulched in winter, they can survive -10°F @emch
