With little knowledge, I'm slowly turning an acre field into a garden! This is my first gardening attempt, so there's such a lot to learn! πŸπŸ¦‹πŸŒ»

My various Philadelphus shrubs have not long come in to leaf! Despite the wonderful warm & sunny weather we've had here in East Scotland, my garden, and certain plants, appear to be behind in some aspects, but ahead in others. Cooler, breezy day here today tho!!! Waiting for rain, that has been promised later in week, as garden really needing it. Have been out watering all my young plants either daily or every 2nd day!

@reedie-cottsge just think you will still be enjoying yours when everyone else's will be going off! I always feel we are slightly behind with blooms here in Wales compared to the south. I've been having to water too, it's so dry! Keep us posted on progress! 😃

Thanks @foxy . Will do @SylviaDavies . Have had plenty of rain tonight here, and forecast is rain on & off for rest of week. Means there will be plenty of growth in plants as a result. Rain also a good excuse to not have to cut the grass! 😀

Help me identify this plant please... it has beautiful white flowers early summer. I thought it was an orange blossom but the images in the encyclopedia are so different #plantID

@SylviaDavies I also think it is Philadelphus but surprised no mention of powerful scent from flowers. That's one of the plus points apart from the mass of white flowers

Sorry... Pruning at the wrong time perhaps?

@sylviadavies Don't know when you prune it but prune right behind flowering which my area usually late summer.I prune about half maybe slightly more off stems that have flowered as they will provide the shoots 4 next years flowers. If you prune any later won't have time to make enough growth for flowering next year.It can become rather big so I usually cut out non flowering shoots to the ground to try & keep control.Once had cut it down in springtime because it was so big&didn't flower for 2yrs

@SylviaDavies after flowering and keep centre clear by pruning some branches down to base
