Still haven't figured this out... Any chance it could be some kind of #camellia ? I'm not very familiar with those...
After much reading, I'm almost convinced it's a camellia. These seem to be shoots from the stump of a much larger one that was cut down before we got the house.
Ok, pretty sure I've got it right this time, not a camellia at all but a #hypericum
Definitely not a camellia.
