@tasheenatiara yours is huge and beautiful! I thought I did lose mine last summer I had to trim it back to about 3ft. High all the branches were dead it was growing from the bottom. So do you trim even though it's summer?? I trimmed some this morning all the real low branches at the bottom I cut all the way back than zip tied some of the branches weighing down on the others. How often do u water?? Does it ever look like it's wilting but the ground is moist??@terrimclaughlin
We haven't trimmed ours at all this year except for a few dead branches and it's not necessary unless you want to keep it looking neat. The heavy branches I think actually helps the ground stay moist but this is a low water use plant so they don't have to stay on the plant. If the branches are dying I would water deeply once a week, twice a week when it's really hot out, and lightly every other day. We feed ours once a month. Wilting branches could also be disease :( @terrimclaughlin
@tasheenatiera the branches seem to drip alittle when it gets about 90+ degrees then it does perk up. I hope there's no proof with it I'll keep an eye out I've feed it with bougainvillea food it's just blooming late this year but everything else is too I think because we had some real cold days and I think it effected them but that's for the good info. They do grow well in CA
Yes that's what I was thinking also, we're lucky in CA to have a great growing season. Yours really does look good though especially for a three year old plant. This one is 17 years old! @terrimclaughlin
@tasheenatiara sorry I guess I said it wrong it's been planted in the soil for 3 yrs. before that it was in a pot but I planted it you can see on the pick on my profile where I have a few colored bracts that's what I mean by looking druppy and I'm real good about arreating the soil sometimes after a big fast rain there earth worms along the side of the street I pic them up and put them on my potted plants naturals for loosing the soil and fertilizing!! I guess it's about 5 yrs old
❤️ we didn't prune her this year and she's a mess but still beautiful!
