Can't work out whether this is a Spanish bluebell or native English. I think I have both in my garden and would like to try to protect the native. Any bluebell experts out there?? Thanks!
English Bluebell flowers grow all round a stem where as spainish ones usually go down the same side...
Ooo so interesting! I'll go and have a closer inspection tomorrow. Thanks.
@justin wow..I never knew that! I will be inspecting tomorrow!
Ooooops sorry, in my eagerness to tell you difference I mistakenly got it round wrong way 😤 that'll teach me for deploying fingers before brain but @Tophat66 @toyas this tells you all you need to know http://www.plantlife.org.uk/about_us/faq/bluebells/
OK! So back to the great (ahem) bluebell debate. Had a closer look and think I do have both - just more of the Spanish. I planted some English ones last year, so we'll see if they emerge!
BTW thanks @justin for the link. Much appreciated!
Unfortunately the Spanish ones overtake the English ones
Yes, I heard that. I planted a load of English bulbs, so hopefully get a few more English ones come up?
