My first rose bloom of the season! From my climbing rose "Joseph's Coat" #urbanpatio #urbanforest #urbangarden #urbangardening #containergardening #containergarden
@uaskigyrl That’s great. My climbing roses are just coming to life. At least I can see they made it over winter. Tom
@tkept this is my first one. Do they die to the ground?
@uaskigyrl My climbing rose do not die back to the ground. Sometime a stem will die back some but normally and with luck they do not die back. Good luck. Tom

I finally caved! I'm not a huge fan of roses (I KNOW!) & For the past few years I've been experimenting with other flowers. The problem is most of the flowers I like are annuals in MD & try as I might I just couldn't keep them alive. Roses, OTO, grow like gangbusters here. So to make my life easier, I got a rose. I got a climbing rose & added a 5' Obelisk!
They're pansy 😶
@jyotu yes, I put pansy & snapdragon around the rose for color as the rose gets established 😁
I thought you mistaken identity
St Joseph's Coat. It's a really mean bush. Lots of thorns & branches with thorns...but the flowers are pretty & have a very strong rose scent. For someone like me with a terrible sense of smell due to sinuses it's nice - although may be overpowering to most #urbanpatio #urbangarden #urbangardening #containergarden #containergardening #stjosephscoat #rosebush #roses
