Brugmansia 'Charles Grimaldi'

Dismantling the non hardy plants is in full swing. These are a few of the cuttings of #brugmansia-charles-grimaldi Wouldn’t fit them in the greenhouse if I didn’t chop the branches off. From experience they won’t all root in water indoors so better to have too many than not enough.

Feel free to ignore me if you’re sick of seeing #brugmansia-charles-grimaldi 🤣 but more flowers open every couple of days and still plenty of buds left to open

That looks fab! I have two white ones grown from root cuttings but they have been a little neglected last couple of years and I’ve not fed them regularly. Def haven’t had as many flowers as this one 🤩

Can’t get over the amount of flowers open on #brugmansia-charles-grimaldi The scent at night is amazing but I’m careful not to sniff too much as apparently they’re hallucinogenic 🤪

@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I’ve just realised I’ve posted 3 photos on the trot of this. It just gets more fabulous by the day and it’s the first time I’ve grown this one . This time last year it was an unrooted cutting from a friend so feeling pretty chuffed with myself

You won't hallucinate by smelling them but the seeds are very hallucinogenic. The sap is mildly toxic also. This is beautiful, you should be chuffed

I will take cuttings as will have to cut it back to get in the greenhouse but the cutting was in the cold greenhouse last winter @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

#brugmansia-charles-grimaldi decided to open the first of a second flush of flowers today. Thought it very apt that Charles opened today 👑

Wind has had this down twice now today even after putting bricks on the pot so moved it onto the patio for now out of the way of the westerly wind. Full of buds, the first 4 flowers have finished #brugmansia-charles-grimaldi

Anything you can do, I can’t do better 😂 just put mine on as well but forgot to say mine also went over in the wind just after yours did 😂😂

Is it a cold group brug @vegandmore ?

@vegandmore they are greedy and need lots of feed and water. They won’t flower until the the main branch goes into a “Y” shape. Cold group brugs start flowering when it cools down a bit so end of august/September

It is a Y shape, I’ve given it the correct feed and plenty of water 😐

I haven’t a clue about cold group as I was gifted it in full bloom last year

Not sure what else to suggest except is it in a big enough pot ? @vegandmore

It’s not huge but I’m not sure what size pot it needs @vec 🤔
