Mousetail Plant

Arisarum are small tuberous or rhizomatous perennials. They form dense clumps of long-stalked, heart- shaped or arrow-shaped leaves,and clusters of small; flowers wrapped in hooded spathes. Arisarum proboscideum is rhizomatous and bears arrow-shaped, glossy, green leaves up to 15cm long. The flowers that appear in Spring have a dark purple-brown spathe with a long narrow tip that resembles a mouse's tail - hence the name
