Red Angels Trumpet in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Brugmansia sanguinea

Red Angel's Trumpet

Like most Brugmansia, this is considered a tender shrub in the UK. I have had this specimen planted out in a sheltered, sunny Suffolk garden for a number of years. The top growth is normally killed off by a typical winter but, so far, new growth has appeared at ground level each spring. Tends to bloom in mild rather than hot weather, usually in late summer. Unfortunately, unlike many Brugmansia, B sanguinea' flowers are not scented.
