Campsis
Campsis is a deciduous, vigorous climber with compound leaves, similar to those of an ash tree, and, in late Summer and Autumn, clusters of red, yellow or orange showy trumpet-shaped flowers
Planting
From Early Spring TO Late Spring
Plant in Spring in a sunny spot in any fertile, moist free-draining soil against a south or west facing wall or fence
Propagation by seed
From Early Spring TO Late Spring
Sow seeds under glass in Spring in moist compost. Do not let the soil dry out.
Propagation
From Mid Autumn TO Late Autumn
Campsis can be propagated by hardwood cuttings. Cut well-ripened young shoots 30-60cm long (1-2ft). Dip the cut end in hormone rooting powder before inserting it 15-20cm (6"-8") deep into soil in a cold frame. The following Autumn plant the young plants out.
Flowering
From Late Summer TO Early Autumn
Campsis flowers are borne on the new season's growth, and appear in late Summer and early Autumn
