Forbes' Glory-of-the-Snow 'Pink Giant'

Chionodoxa, known as glory-of-the-snow, is a small genus of bulbous perennial flowering plants. Chionodoxa species are often included in Scilla. Chionodoxa can be bought as bulbs and planted while dormant in late summer or early autumn at a depth of 8–10 cm. They require light when in growth, but can be grown under deciduous trees or shrubs, as their foliage dies down after flowering. All flower in early Spring. Chionodoxa forbesii Pink Giant is larger flowered than Chionodoxa.luciliae, above a more noticeable central white throat. The Chionodoxa flower profusely and provided a very good early show.

Planting

From Late Summer TO Early Autumn

Plant bulbs in late Summer or early Autumn in a humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Plant the bulbs 8 -10cm deep.

 

Propagation by offsets

From Late Autumn TO Mid Winter

When the plant is dormant, lift the bulbs, and remove off-sets and plant them where required, or in pots until the following Spring.
