Chicory is a clump-forming perennial herb, and has bright blue flowers from mid to late Summer. It has a large edible tap root that can be used as a coffee substitute, and dandelion-like leaves, and can grow up to one metre tall. Prefers dry, sunny sites. Self seeds.
