Watermelon Jubilee in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Citrullus Lanatus 'Jubilee'

Watermelon 'Jubilee'

Watermelons are not, strictly speaking, melons, although they are in the same family. They have a long growing-season (around 80 days) and need a soil temperature of at least 70 deg.F for planting out. Other than the heat required and the long growing season required, treat them much like melons. They grow along the ground, and are space-greedy. (The "height" given here is more the "length"). 'Jubilee' is a popular variety, with heavy, oblong, striped fruits.
