Strawberry Hapil in the GardenTags plant encyclopedia

Fragaria x ananassa 'Hapil'

Strawberry 'Hapil'

The common garden strawberry (collectively known as strawberries) is widely grown for its sweet tasting, juicy red fruit. Strawberry plants are easy to care for and will provide an abundance of first class fruit for a numbers of years. When they come to the end of their fruiting lives they are easily propagated by removing the old plants and planting the runners. 'Hapil' is a popular mid season variety, producing good crops of large well-flavoured fruit in mid Summer. Does well on light soils and drier conditions. Holder of RHS Award of Garden Merit

Propagate your strawberry plants in their 4th or 5th year to continue your fruit crop. Simple break of the runners from the main plant and plant straight into well drained, fertile soil. For an early crop you can plant under a tunnel cloche.
