Fritillaries are flowering bulbs, some with grass-like leaves, some with lance-shaped leaves, and nodding bell-shaped flowers, either solitary or in clusters. 'Michailovskyi' bears dark red nodding, bell-shaped flowers with yellow edges to the petals. It produces up to four blooms per stem. The grey- green leaves are lance-shaped.

Delicate bell shaped single flowers purple chequered in pink appear in spring. The flowers are about an inch and a half long.
