American skunk cabbage

This rhizomous perennial is well named as the odour it gives off is not pleasant. The plant can become invasive. Leaves are a bright green and the flowers are typical arum and are coloured bright yellow. It produces a spiked spadix which sprouts small flowers that as the petals die, produce seeds.
