Melianthus major 'Purple Haze'

 

Honey Bush 'Purple Haze'

Melianthus major is a medium-sized evergreen sub-shrub with handsome glaucous, pinnate leaves to 45cm in length. Small, tubular purple flowers in erect racemes to 30cm in length in spring and summer. The flowers are honey scented. Grows well in mild coastal gardens but can be frozen back in nasty winters. It's pretty cool.
