Kudzu
Kudzu is a seasonal climbing plant, growing high where suitable support is available, and also growing as ground cover where there are no vertical surfaces on which to climb. It is a perennial vine with tuberous roots and rope-like, dark brown stems to 20m long. It produces three lobed leaves with hair on the underside. Flowers are reddish-purple and yellow, fragrant and are similar to pea flowers.

Plant young plants in early spring in a fertile, loamy well-drained soil in full or partial sun. It will not produce flowers in shade. Growth is rapid. May require a framework on which to climb. Can grow up to 6M in the first year. When grown in warmer climates, this plant can often can become invasive.
